ferrumaeternum: (here lies david st. hubbins)
Dubya is gone, the Democrats are back in power, and I got free stuff from the cosmetics lawsuit.

I even got up early to watch Obama's inauguration, which in itself was amazing, since I'm having trouble getting up before 2:00 PM these days. I was surprised at how many people were there, even with the historical and social significance of this event. The speech was certainly worth watching, since Obama is such an eloquent speaker. "We gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord," certainly qualifies as one of the Great Moments in Presidential Speeches, unlike, "It just seems like I was here yesterday. I was! Heh. Kinda." ;) And to all the bitter Republicans who are too dense to see why our country wants change: love it or leave it. I know I’m preaching to the choir here on LiveJournal, but I hate going on Facebook and seeing old friends make such greedy, selfish, and ignorant comments just because there has been an inevitable change in parties in Washington. I don't like Republicans or understand why they believe what they do, but I respect their decision to do so, and it frustrates me that the ones I know can't do the same for Democrats.

The only thing I will miss about Bush is his unintentional humor from his made-up words like ‘misunderestimated’, ‘recruitiments’ and ‘nucular’ to wasting speech time talking about random things that happened to him that day to things like, “Let there be a stable Iran. An Iran that is capable of rejecting Iranian influence.” Seriously, though, good riddance. I just feel bad that the Obama administration now has to try to clean up the huge mess made over the past eight years.

Apparently, several cosmetics companies had to give away $175 million in products as part of the settlement, since they never put their products on sale. All I had to do was stand in line at Macy’s and two different Boston Stores, sign a form, and I got full-size bottles of Lancôme mascara and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely (I can't stand her, but I love how this smells) and Calvin Klein’s Euphoria shower gel. Unfortunately, all the fragrances were out by the time I got there, but I still got free stuff that I’ll actually use. I also got free stuff from Victoria’s Secret, even though that happens every few months anyway. It just added to my day of mooching. They even had something for the guys, but unfortunately, it was Armani Code shower gel, which kind of reeks.
