Backpiece Progress: Session #5

Total number of hours tattooed so far: 14
Yesterday I had my first out of three appointments for this month to finish the peacock in my backpiece. (His name is Fritz, by the way.) The outline is done except for the tail, since Lane’s wife (who is now apprenticing) was using the table for her client, and it’s kind of hard to tattoo an area that is being sat on.
The good news is my pain tolerance isn’t decreasing like I thought it was. There was no rubbing alcohol applied this time, and I handled three hours without making any sound or squirming.
I’m going back in a couple weeks, where the outline will be finished and hopefully some color will also be added. There will also eventually be a background with more falling cherry blossoms added to help describe the perspective and possibly a ground area. I’m very happy with how it’s coming along. Line quality is what helps define Lane’s work, and it is really emphasized on the new addition.
