I’m always a little iffy about posting student work, since there are always guidelines and it’s never completely my own vision. However, I think it’s alright in the case of graphic design because even in the professional world, you’re still designing for a client and have to find a way to make it work while keeping some of your own aesthetic in the piece.

This is my Digital Art final project (11'' x 17'') done in Adobe Illustrator. I didn’t receive any negative feedback at the critique, so if anyone wants to tear it to pieces, have at it!

I ended up not using this design because it wasn’t as visually dynamic without the diagonals and text repetition, but I think it’s still worth a look anyway:

And for the record, I still immensely dislike Illustrator compared to PhotoShop, despite eventually figuring out how to translate all the elements of the design. ;)

i like the first one best.. actually, it echoes the slantwise design to the first paperback edition to mr. mcluhan's book. admittedly, i'm not a fan of soviet propagandism/"constructivism," but the message imparted by the medium here, so to speak, marries the man's enthusiasm for technology-as-communicative-dialogue.

interesting concept, with the warm/muted color schemes being married to such a bold statesman speaking such bold words.
