ferrumaeternum: (lady in black)
Just when I though all the drama with my nostril piercing was going to be over for a while, it goes and develops a boil and gets infected. The only thing I can think of is that it was probably somehow torn a bit on Thursday night. I’ve been to a few gigs since it’s been pierced and nothing too bad has resulted so far. Even being slammed with an elbow when it was still healing didn’t do any lasting damage. Unfortunately, I just noticed this yesterday, and I’ll have to wait until Friday to treat it. I have a lot of work to do, so I can’t spare the hour round trip by bus to go to Whole Foods and get sea salt. I really like this piercing, so I’m not going to retire it unless my body completely rejects it.

I’m also really concerned about my astronomy grade. At least it’s early enough in the semester to fix, but I’ve already got a 60% on a quiz, did fairly bad on a homework assignment, and had no idea there was an exam Monday, which I didn’t even bring a calculator for. I have to pass this class because the credits fulfill my general education requirement for natural science, plus I am required to take the follow-up Astronomy lab at a later semester. The only decent grade I know I have is an 85% on a homework assignment. Then I was so overworked from my yoga class and getting about four hours of sleep the previous night that I couldn’t slow my heart rate and ended up skipping my oil painting class for fear of passing out. I ended up taking a nap and was fine after a few hours, but I missed a day for a two-day painting. I should be able to take my painting home over the weekend and finish it, so that’ll be okay. If I had known I would be standing for three hours after yoga, I would’ve signed up for a life drawing class instead. I know this isn’t really a big deal, but I’ve always been an over-achiever and I’ve never started a class off with less than satisfactory grades. All I know is that I need to be active in fixing these things - especially not going to bed at 3:30-4:00 AM and sleeping until 2:00 PM on the days I have off when I have to be up by 9:30 on most school days. I’m also probably jumping the gun a bit here, as usual, since all my astronomy grades aren’t in yet. I am just annoyed at myself because I’m only taking 12 credits this semester, and I let my professor’s irritatingly close-minded views on science, religion, and astrology get to me. All my other classes are going fine; except for the couple of postures I’m having trouble with in yoga as well as some of the philosophy that clashes with my beliefs. (I’ll elaborate more on that and my astronomy professor’s preaching later.)

On a random note, I was very happy to see this guy was featured in BME’s ModBlog again. Not only is it one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever seen, but also how I think Celtic tattoos should look.
