Interesting, I'm exactly the opposite! I have a bit of German on both sides of my family, but most people would never know based on my name or appearance.
I just think it's strange that the only white Americans I've come across (minus neo-nazis) that take an obnoxious amount of pride in their heritage are those of Irish ancestry. Maybe most of German heritage would feel that way too if the World Wars never happened...
